Till Lindemann was born on the 4th of January 1963 in the Eastern part of Germany (Leipzig) to Brigitte Hildegard Lindemann (a Norddeutscher Rundfun jounalist) and poet Werner Lindemann.
He grew up in Wendisch-Rambow together with Saskia his younger sister. He attended a sports school at the sports club SC Empor Rostock at age 11 and attended a boarding school between 1977 to 1980. Due to the pursuit of career, his parent lived in different locations in 1975 after which they divorced, Till was still young at the time of the divorce.
He had to live with father although it was not for a long time because the relationship was unhealthy. His father took to writing about his problems with alcoholism and the challenges of fathering a teenage Lindemann in the Mike Oldfield book in Schaukelstuhl.
Till took part in the European Junior Swimming Championships that took place in 1978 where he emerged 11th in the 1500m freestyle and 7th in the 400m freestyle respectively. He was later shortlisted to go to the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, he however didn’t finish with the sport because he sustained an injury in between.
He reported to have never liked the sports school as it was too intense. He later took on carpentry and worked as an apprentice after which he became a gallery technician peat cutter and basket weave. Deep Purple’s Stormburger was his first-ever album.
