Taylor Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music.

She signed with the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest artist ever signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. Her 2006 self-titled debut album peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 and spent the most weeks on the chart in the 2000s.


Musician Taylor Swift was a rising star in country music by the time she was sixteen years old. Early singles such as Love Story and You Belong With Me won the hearts of both country and pop listeners, leading to a multimillion-selling album that included the Grammy Award-winning Fearless (2008).

Swift topped the charts once again in 2014 with her successful 1989 studio album, including two No. 1 singles: Shake it Off and Blank Space. This album also won Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy Awards. Her next albums, reputation and Lover, both enjoyed a lot of commercial success.

Early Life

Swift spent her early childhood on her family’s Christmas tree farm in nearby Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. In the early 1980s, Swift followed in the footsteps of her grandmother, who had been a professional opera singer.

In addition to singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game at the age of 11, Swift began writing songs and learning guitar at the age of 12. She traveled frequently to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in music. Her family moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee, near Nashville, in order to further Swift’s career there. Swift co-wrote songs there and attempted to land a recording contract.


For her next work, Swift appeared to step away from her country music roots; she released 1989 in October 2014. one of the catchiest songs of the year, it had a deep affect on her with her rising up the pop charts. Immediately following that success, she made waves again with her second hit single of the year, Blank Space, that shot to the top of the charts, becoming the first artist to move 1.2 million copies of an album in one week.

In 2015, Swift teased the track Bad Blood in an elaborate noir-inspired music video that also doubles as an action short. Swift’s bad girl alter-ego Catastrophe also starred, alongside a list of A-list friends like Karlie Kloss, Cindy Crawford, and Lena Dunham.

In February of 2016, Taylor Swift took the 58th Annual Grammy Awards stage with another song from 1989, Out of the Woods. Pre-telecast winners of Best Music Video and Best Pop Vocal Album, Swift won another Grammy later in the evening for Album of the Year, becoming the first woman to win twice in that category.

Swift was seen as snubbing new West song by noting during her acceptance speech to never allow yourself to be intimidated by those who will take credit for your success. I wanna say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame, she said. but when you just focus on the work, you’ll see that you have managed to persevere, that you didn’t let others sidetrack you.

Personal Life

In 2008, there were many rumours going around that Taylor was in a romantic relationship with Joe Jonas from the famous pop music group The Jonas Brothers, but neither confirmed nor denied these rumours. He’s an amazing guy and any woman would be lucky to be dating him, Taylor Swift said at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. Afterward, by the time Fearless was released, their relationship seemed to turn sour.

Taylor Swift was romantically linked to actor Taylor Lautner, one of the stars of the hugely successful Twilight saga. The pair reportedly met while filming Swift’s big-screen debut Valentine’s Day, which came out in February 2010.

Afterwards,Taylor Swift dated another musician, actor Tom Hiddleston, who she began dating in the summer of 2016. They broke up three months later.
