Rev. Boakye’s Early Life – A Humble Beginning

He was born on 24th February 1958 in Atwima-Manhyia, situated in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Rev. Boakye was the 11th born among 12 born to the late Opanin Akwasi Ampong and Obaapanin Yaa Bio. Sadly, there was no known living record of the lastborn, as the 12th born passed in infancy; hence, he was the lastborn. Rev. Boakye attended Manhyia Methodist Primary and Middle School and completed middle school in 1976. Prior to the completion of middle school, he was identified and earmarked for vocational training as a mechanic in Suame Magazine, a community in the Ashanti Region famed for artisan craftsmanship and trade.

In the late 1970s, like many young Ghanaians, Rev. Boakye left for Nigeria. On his return to Ghana, he leveraged his entrepreneurship and secured a bus that he used in his transport business in Accra. With hard work and dedication, he grew his fleet over time and became a notable entrepreneur in the transport sector.

Divine Intervention and The Call to Ministry

Rev. Boakye’s life changed in 1987 when he went to a crusade at Kaneshie Market in Accra led by the late Evangelist Francis Akwasi Amoako. He accepted Christ as Lord and Savior at this crusade, and that was the origin of his Christian journey. He joined the Resurrection Power and Living Bread Ministries and very quickly demonstrated that he was a serious Christian leader. He became the leader of the Men’s Fellowship group, and in addition to this, he began to use his transport business by taking church members to church services; all of this was part of Boakye’s development as a servant of God.

A significant moment came when Rev. Appau Baffour prophesied about his call to pastoral ministry. He was initially reluctant to embrace his pastoral calling because he had successfully established his transport business as an owner-operator. However, ultimately Rev. Boakye accepted his pastorship call. He wanted to prepare himself better theologically for eventual ministry, and he undertook enrollment in the Living Bread Bible School in Pig Farm, Accra, where he later became a licensed minister as ordained by Pastor Addo.

Founding the Resurrection Power New Generation Church

In his early ministerial days, Rev. Boakye started with a handful of congregation members, but he was passionate about evangelism and could engage people with easygoing energy, which led quickly to larger membership. He organized crusades in various places such as Russia and Odorkor in Accra, which typically drew really huge crowds who were willing to do the things of God. The turning point in his ministry came with finding and purchasing land in Ngleshie Amanfro, near the Kasoa toll booth, and constructing the Resurrection Power New Generation Church. Under Rev. Boakye’s leadership, the church grew and developed, opening branches in different places in Ghana and becoming a spiritual home to many, even thousands.

Boakye was able to utilize media, communicating the good news of the gospel by way of preaching and sharing through his church services and crusades aired on Top FM 103.1 and its affiliates and Resurrection TV (RTV), which is owned and operated by the church. He hosted several programs like “Resurrection Hour” on major networks like Crystal TV, TV Africa, and GTV, so he had the benefit of reaching audiences beyond Ghana.

Life of Service & Philanthropy Rev. Boakye’s influence extended well beyond the pulpit. As someone who seeks to promote the welfare of people, he has taken on many projects that have positively changed lives and communities. He worked on projects in the Northern Region, where he renovated a military block and built a security post at the Tamale Barracks. He renovated a medical laboratory and a patient ward at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. Due to his interest in education, he even established the Resurrection Power Mission School in 2019 to provide quality education at crèche through

junior high school levels. He helped those in need through both publicly & privately lent support, which meant he gave back to the community but also demonstrated and showed many Christian virtues of compassion & generosity. Rev. Boakye had numerous media involvements; not only was he the CEO for Resurrection TV (RTV), but he also owned BTV, RFM-Accra, RFM-Kumasi, and Hope FM-Breman Asikuma, which shows how visionary, pioneering, and helpful he was as a leader. Author & Motivational Speaker Rev. Boakye was a fruitful author, having published over six books that provided spiritual knowledge and practical information. Some of these significant titles include Wisdom of God, Money is Good, and Deliverance from Witchcraft & Familiar Spirits: A Practical Perspective: Dealing with Witch-Demonology, all books that have inspired budding spiritualists on the journey to personal spiritual development and empowerment.

Personal life and Family

Rev. Boakye had his share of joys and sorrows in his life. He was first married to Adwoa Korewaa and had three children: Jennifer, Dorcas, and Benjamin. Adwoa died in 1996. Boakye later married Rev. Mrs. Margaret Y. Boakye and had children here as well.

Challenges and Final Years

Rev. Boakye suffered a stroke in October 2021; this marked the beginning of a tough phase in his life. After months in and out of the hospital doing various treatments and rehabilitation, Rev. Boakye took his last breath on February 21, 2023, at 2:00am at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra; he was 65 yearshe was buried on August 4, 2023.
