BIOGRAPHY

 

Chidinma Ekile, recognized as one of Nigeria’s most adored singers, actresses, songwriter and performers, was born on May 2nd, 1991, in Ketu Kosofe, Lagos State, Nigeria. She is the sixth child of seven in a family traced to Imo State. Chidinma grew up in a lifetime of discipline that naturally fostered her love for music, which began at an early age, starting probably around six. By the age of ten, she began singing in the church choir. Therefore, as Chidinma grew up in a home environment not only of discipline but also of music, her passion for music was supported.

 

Although Chidinma planned to study and earn a degree in mass communication, things changed quickly after she graduated with a Sociology degree from the University of Lagos, which expressed her strong will. Instead of enrolling in a university, she rather chose to drop out to pursue her dream of advancing in the competition while boldly standing in line to participate in the Project Fame West Africa audition process.

 

PROJECT FAME WEST AFRICA: A FRESH START

 

Chidinma’s life changed forever in 2010 as she auditioned for the third season of Project Fame West Africa, a widely known music reality television series sponsored by MTN. During the audition process, she impressed audiences with her vocal ability and onstage confidence. She surprisingly won the show. Project Fame was so impactful in Chidinma’s life that it included a cash payout of ₦2.5 million as well as a car and the direction of one of Nigeria’s megastars.
